Description:

Synagogue music for four voice choir and cantorial soloist in German and Romanized Hebrew. German pieces often in chorale style, with Hebrew responses. Some pieces for two lead singers (vorsänger) in counterpoint.

 

Western notation with full-text underlay in German and Romanized Hebrew (Ashkenazi pronunciation).

 

In Birnbaum’s catalog, he writes, “Der Original bei der Gem. Dessau. Entlieen von Horwitz daselbst,” indicating that provenance of the manuscript.

 

Has Eduard Birnbaum bookplate.
