A printed slip (from a bookseller’s catalogue?) is pasted onto the item. It reads “30. Gesänge seines Bassisten Markus Perez Weintraub.” Mordechai (Markus) Perez Weintraub was a cantor in Beuthen, Germany (now Bytom, Poland) and was the brother of Hirsch Weintraub.
This item includes three settings of Lekha Dodi for one voice (baritone), with Romanized Hebrew text-underlay. Birnbaum’s catalogue remarks that the third item in this manuscript is notable, “mit schönen Coluraturen.”
