Description:
This manuscript contains twenty-nine items for one voice with alternate "cantor" and "chor" designations. The fourteenth item has keyboard accompaniment, while the second, fourth, and sixteenth items have four-six voice chords at the concluding "amen". This indicates that they were probably meant for keyboard accompaniment as well. It is the musical companion to the Synagogenordnung of H.P. Ree, see Mus.62.
Western notation, moving from left-to-right. First five items have text-underlay in Hebrew printing with nikkudot, each syllable read from right-to-left. Other items in Romanized Hebrew.
Contains four appendices: 1) Table of contents by Eduard Birnbaum; 2) “Notizblatt” by Eduard Birnbaum, with several notations “angeblich von Mirkin;” 3) “Notenblatt I-III” by E.B;
4) photocopy of the printed book: Hatwig Philipp Ree, Vorschlag zu einer höchstnothwendigen Synagogenordnung. Aarhuus: Gedruckt bei A. Y. [?] Elmquist, 1825.
Transcriptions of Danish choral melodies in the appendices are noted by Birnbaum as being found in the music archive in Copenhagen.
